Vodafone India to stop Blackberry services

In context with the ongoing tussle between Blackberry and Indian security establishment, a major provider of Blackberry services in the country Vodafone has warned its customers about the likely ban on these services.

MHA and Indian security agencies insist that monitoring of BlackBerry data cannot be conditional. MHA has asked the department of telecommunications to convey to firms offering BlackBerry service that they must comply with security-related guidelines by August 31 or stop the service.

Vodafone on Friday has informed in advance to its subscribers that if  Blackberry does not come out with the solution than they might stop there blackberry services from 31st of august 2010. However, the Telecom companies  at the same time has assured of trying to come up with some solution to its subscribers, and If the government decides to shut the messenger and enterprise mail services, BlackBerry subscribers will be able to only make phone calls and surf the Internet :p. As most of the BB users are the top officials in big corporates it will be very difficult for blackberry users to go for any alternative till the issue is solved.
