The Latest In The Tablet Scene

By -

Apple iPad can claim leadership in the tablet computer industry. As a matter of fact, there is a study that suggests Apple is to take control of the tablet market at least until 2015. While Google’s Android has taken over the smart phone industry, Apple is recorded to be at least three years ahead of Android when it comes to tablet.

The Apple Dominance

Since the launch of the first iPad in 2010, Apple has been very visible in this arena. And with the release of the new iPad, the iPad HD, it has just further strengthened Apple’s dominance. Apple is actually considered as the dominant player in the field of worldwide unit shipments.

Android has come up with its own version of tablets, nothing has yet come close to any of the Apple tablet products. However, there is reason to believe that by 2015, Android tablets will eventually keep up with the iOS. According to Tom Mainelli who is the current research director of IDC, it is not a far possibility for Android to cope or possibly overtake the Apple. The availability of Android- based tablets offered at a much lower price may be one of the top reasons why the brand is seen to take a big chunk of share in 2015, overthrowing the dominant Apple.

With the Apple’s strong platform and great selection for digital apps, including comprehensive entertainment and music stores, it will not be quite easy to beat the company in terms of revenue market share, at least until in three years when Android has come up with competitive solutions to finally overthrow Apple.

New Threat From Microsoft Surface

Apple and Android are not the only players in the market for tablet computers. There are similar tablet PCs around and each has their own promised competencies. Recently, Microsoft has joined the competition. With the Microsoft Surface, the company promises to take away some of the share. This is the reason why both Apple and Android have nothing to be relaxed about.

What the Critics have to say

There are plenty of reasons why Microsoft Surface is considered to be a force to be reckoned with in the tablet market. And this is evident in the tablet reviews comparing the Surface offerings with the iPad and its other tablet counterparts.

For one, the biggest advantage and greatest promise of the Surface is its use of the powerful Windows operating system and latest one at that, the Windows 8. Microsoft has had the Surface under works, optimizing the OS to be at par with the touch screen features of similar tablets. It also offers most of what existing tablets in the market provides such as WiFi and Bluetooth support.

With the addition of the Microsoft Surface, the Android and Apple non-stop at work to come up with their own versions of advanced tablets, it just makes the competition more interesting. This also provides better options and it is a great advantage for consumers who are out to get the best the market has to offer.
