Host your Website with Google Drive in 4 Steps

Google just announced on few days back that they will allow web developers to share and view entire sites hosted with their Google Drive Account, Google Drive a free storage service company, which till date only functioned as a virtual hard disk. Now anyone can upload files extension like HTML, JavaScript and even CSS , so that after a few simple steps it is possible to make and publish your website up and running.

The boys from Google Drive shared this information with the tutorial and process for publishing sites, and it is actually so simple that anyone can do it:

  1. Create a new folder in Drive and share it as “Public on the web.
  2. Upload your HTML, JS & CSS files to this folder.
  3. Open the HTML file & you will see “Preview” button in the toolbar.
  4. Share the URL that looks like www.googledrive.com/host/… from the preview window and anyone can view your web page.

Done!!!

In reality it is a small and simple addition , which can be useful for developers and students, which will now have the opportunity to host and display the prototype/project functionality and live demo of their sites to their teachers, friends or clients. An agile solution by the Google guys.

The objective functionality of this alternative is relatively modest and limited, but undeniably useful, you can bet that more and more small business will now use Google Drive to host your website and give it presence in the net.
