Facebook to organizes a competition to find the best hacker

Facebook has announced a competition to be held next year, Facebook Hacker Cup with the intention of find the best hacker in the World and “turning them into fame, fortune and glory.”  The competition will consist of a tournament in which all participants must pass a series of problems and demonstrate their ability to solve programming problems and algorithms something like Google Code Jam, In this way, Facebook hopes to find the most skilled hacker and, above all, the fastest and time is one of the selection criteria of the competition.

As Facebook says,

Many will enter, but only one will claim title as champion and take home the $5,000 USD cash prize and be immortalized on the Hacker Cup.

Competition consist of four rounds a duration of 72 hours each. The first three qualifying rounds will be having the twenty best hackers to play the final round to be held at the headquarters of Facebook, in Palo Alto (California).

The registration deadline for the competition, it will open on Monday 20 December and the first round will begin on January 15, 2011, when participants will meet for the first three algorithmic problems to be be resolved within 72 hours. While to participate not only to register, but it will also have to earn the right to do so, through a previous round of qualifying to be held between 7 and 10 January and will serve as the first selection of participants. Facebook has made available for the concerned persons  collection of test problems, If someone wants to try and assess its possible puzzles of the competition.

And the hard effort will be rewarded, not only for personal satisfaction and reputation. The winner will get $ 5,000 (3,780 €), the runner will be $ 3,000 (€ 2,268) and third place $ 2,000 (just over € 1,512). There will be a consolation prize of $ 100 for the first of twenty-five finishers, plus trip to California for the finalist of the competition.

    Maybe Facebook has started this competition so that they can fix some of the bugs on their site and at the same time to figure out any existing vulnerabilities of Facebook. By just looking at the reward it was really a huge money for me though.
