Facebook Deals comes to the UK

Facebook Deals is a service offered by the world’s largest social network, Facebook is the check-in service that allows you to claim special offers in places that you’ve “checked-in” to, is making its way across the Atlantic today. To explain it more simply, a sort of mixture as famous as portals Groupon and geo-services as Foursquare.

However, this possibility was previously only available across few places. Appears to have landed in the UK to the delight of all British citizens and their host (by advertisers) has been very good. Known brands such as Starbucks, O2, Benetton or Mazda have succumbed to the benefits of service network.

The service itself is relatively simple to use, as US customers already know. By checking-in to a participating business on their smartphone, the user receives an on-screen virtual voucher that can be presented to the cashier to claim the offer. Places participating in the scheme will appear in the list of nearby places with a yellow ticket by their name. Deals in the US have been varied, from buy one get one free at Chipotle, to a $1 charity donation at McDonald’s.

Facebook Deals is based on the mobile application [Facebook] on geographic location and once you have your location you get an offer, opportunities and discounts on those businesses, restaurants, bars … that are all around you in exchange you have to just “Check-IN”.

Facebook doesn’t make any money directly from these developments, this has been confirmed by Joanna Shields (Vice President EMEA of Facebook), but thanks to the new functions the network users will not get tired of facebook and the number of people who have social network account will grow and return to the facebook every day.
